Originally from Boulder, Colorado, Scott abandoned the gorgeous Rocky Mountains for Chicago, Illinois, to pursue a career as an actor. In 1988, he joined Famous Door Theatre company. He was the initial producer of the hit show Hellcab, which ran for over a decade. As an actor, his favorite roles include Jesse Mahoney in Mann Ist Mann (Famous Door & Thalia Theater of Hamburg, Germany), Yankl in Ghetto (Famous Door), Teddy in The Homecoming (Famous Door), Dumby in Lady Windermere's Fan (Northlight Theater), A Christmas Carol (Goodman Theatre), and Dr. Yakunin in The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow (collaboraction). He can currently be seen online in commercials for Cenex gas ("Rock Stars") and Dave and Buster's ("Deli Flashback"). He is an artistic associate of collaboraction. He also works as an editor on articles, documents, and grants concerning new cancer treatments.

He had the good fortune as a teenager to attend three yearly summer writing workshops at Colorado Mountain College and receive manuscript feedback from Ed Bryant. In college, he continued to study writing with teachers such as Leon Forrest, Arthur Morey, Linda Jenkins, and Stuart Kaminsky. Then he joined a theatre company and stopped writing for 15 years. Recently, he has returned to his roots and begun writing science fiction and fantasy stories.

He still lives in Chicago with his lovely wife, Megan, and their children Finn and Fiona.
